With a forecasted Pineapple Express storm set to arrive by Sunday night, we wanted to hit the backcountry to enjoy the deep, relatively stable powder before it all disappeared.

A quick skin to the east ridge above Crystal Mountain and over to Crown Point to our yo-yo skiing destination of the day.   Conditions were fantastic...knee deep powder that was fairly safe to play in provided you stayed away from the wind affected aspects.

After a few laps the snow started to fall again and the wind was picking up and it was time to head for the car.   Sadly, the storm arrived that night, followed by heavy rains in the followind days and a massive avalanche cycle that claimed the lives of three snowboarders in the Crystal bc.
